At the WHIZard Academy for Mathematics & English we assist a wide variety of students, including those who want to maintain good grades, those who need challenging enrichment programs and those who are experiencing problems at school. By helping these students excel as learners, the WHIZard Academy ensures individuals gain confidence and skills to succeed at home, school and in their future careers.

To prepare students for everyday challenges, it is essential that problem areas receive prompt attention. If students do not understand basic concepts in the early grades, these gaps quickly widen, and students may lose interest or confidence in their abilities. As a result, they may get further behind. At the WHIZard Academy we fill these gaps to ensure that students understand and enjoy their studies.

The WHIZard Academy for Mathematics & English is an internationally proven tutorial and enrichment program, with over 25 years of experience in assisting students with Mathematics and English. Upon entering the WHIZard Academy, students complete an evaluation to determine their strengths and problem areas. Individualized programs are then designed to meet the needs of the student. At the WHIZard Academy, students work at their own pace in a supportive and understanding environment. This strategy reduces peer pressure and other learning barriers.

Students at the WHIZard Academy learn by using three senses: reading, writing and listening. At individual learning workstations, students use audio and visual material suited to their needs. By using these senses, the student will be able to retain far more information than by using one sense at a time. This will also help the student to recall the information more readily when needed. Also with our unique program, the student can go back, listen and/or read a topic as many times as needed in order to get a 100% understanding of that topic.

Once the student has completed a topic, the student will be required to do the worksheets that accompany the topic that they have just learnt. While the student is working on the particular worksheet, the tutor will be coming around to each student and marking the work as it is being done, thereby giving the students instant feedback on how they are progressing. The tutors assist students with any problems or questions and provide further instruction to ensure understanding. The tutor will explain and guide the student.

Our tutors are certified teachers or have a university background in Mathematics and English. Once a topic or concept has been completed, the student will be evaluated on that section to ensure that the student has a 100% understanding of the work covered before moving onto the next topic. The student's progress is tracked by a detailed progress report which is completed at the end of each lesson. At the WHIZard Academy, we welcome our parents to come and discuss their student's progress with us at any time.
